Overview

Iceland in winter is a completely different country — darkness and cold transform the landscape into something elemental and magnetic. The aurora borealis dances across the sky on clear nights; glacier lagoons freeze at the edges; ice caves in Vatnajökull glow electric blue. There is no significant ski resort in Iceland, but the winter activities are extraordinary: super-Jeep expeditions, ice cave exploration, snowmobiling on the glaciers, and long evenings in geothermal pools under the stars. Meridian designs a route that moves through the South and East, avoiding Reykjavik entirely.
