Overview
Pavones sits at the very southern tip of Costa Rica, 20 kilometres from the Panamanian border, on a dirt road through rainforest. The left-hand point break here is one of the longest in the Americas — on a big south swell, rides can stretch past a kilometre. The remoteness is part of the appeal: no crowds, no development, howler monkeys in the canopy, and the occasional whale in the bay. Meridian books a private jungle eco-lodge with surf guides, chef, and direct beach access.
